The article has been presented on the international conference Grid-2014 (Russia, Dubna). Authors: Sergey Khoruzhnikov, Vladimir Grudinin, Oleg Sadov, Arsen Kairkanov (Faculty of Infocommunication Technologies ITMO University, St.Petersburg, Russian Federation) Andrey Shevel (National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute" B.P.Konstantinov Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute, Gatchina, Russian Federation) Abstract—The transfer of Big Data over computer network is important and unavoidable operation in the past, now and in any feasible future. There are a number of methods to transfer the Big Data over computer global network (Internet) with a range of tools. In this paper the transfer of one piece of Big Data from one point in the Internet to another point in Internet in general over long range distance: many thousands Kilometers. Several free of charge systems to transfer the Big Data are analyzed here. The most important architecture features are emphasized and suggested idea to add SDN Openflow protocol technique for fine tuning the data transfer over several parallel data links. Keywords—data; Linux; transfer; SDN; Openflow; network.

EVALUATION OF THE STORAGE AREA NETWORK DEVELOPED WITH SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKS OPENFLOW APPROACH by Oleg Sadov — last modified Jan 20, 2016 10:10 AM
Published in Digital scientific magazine «Modern problems of science and education» Abstract: Here it is described a study of possibilities to build up and test the performance of the software defined network (SDN) segments. The applicability of the SDN for data centers and the distributed storage systems. We describe experiments on stress testing of the storage area networks with the use of NOX controller and various software and hardware OpenFlow switches. A check on the possibility of processing bulk client requests, measured response delay, carried out experiments to simulate the operation of data center with 64 switches and 100 thousands hosts. The comparative results of the effectiveness of specific mechanisms implementing QoS are presented. The main problems of existing implementations of OpenFlow SDN components identified during the work and recommendations on possible ways to address them are described. SDN CONTROLLER NORTHBOUND API: STATE OF DEVELOPMENT by Vladimir Grudinin — last modified Jan 20, 2016 10:09 AM
Published in Digital scientific magazine «Modern problems of science and education» Abstract: A briefdescription of the main trends in the development of Software-defined networks (SDN) is given. We compare the advantages and disadvantages of the most popular approaches: end-to-end OpenFlow and virtual network overlays. We are describing existing SDN solutions. Among them, architectural and hardware preferences of Juniper Networks, the Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) from Nuage Networks, an integrated VMware/Nicira solution NSX and Windows Network Virtualization from Microsoft. Most of them tend to implement SDN on the existing infrastructure without having to replace network equipment, maintaining existing services. Main functions of the systems are implemented in software virtual switches that are directly managed by the hypervisor. It is concluded that at the present time OpenFlow has practical application only as a control protocol for virtual switches and most solutions are based on the virtual network overlays. Published in Digital scientific magazine «Modern problems of science and education» Abstract: The purpose of the study are software-defined network (SDN) OpenFlow and effectiveness of their approach to build a network storage. Here we present the study how to build up and study of operating characteristics of software-configurable networks. Prototyping tools for managing network resources and data flows on the basis of the SDN are described. The estimation of the SDN approach for data centers (DC) and the distributed storage systems is observed. We describe experiments with various modifications of OpenFlow controller NOX and set out the specifics of the use of various software and hardware OpenFlow switches. We provide comparative performance results of specific QoS methods. A description of the main problems of existing implementations of OpenFlow SDN components identified during the research, and recommendations on possible ways to address them are provided.
